The Mid Group is proud to have taken a leading role in the construction of several extensions to the Robert Clack Lower and Upper School in Dagenham, East London since the beginning of 2018, including an ongoing project due to complete in 2020 to build an entire separate school that will be able to facilitate 1,350 new pupils.

Lower School Extension

In January 2018 work began to provide a new teaching block for Robert Clack Lower School and thanks to an efficient offsite solution, the project was completed just seven months later in August 2018. In addition to building 12 additional classrooms for the school, the extension also included a bigger kitchen and dining hall, and a food technology lab. The Mid Group was particularly proud to provide the school with the Constructionarium, a practical learning environment to teach children about the construction industry.

Upper School Extension

In March 2018 the Mid Group also began construction of a new school hall, a teaching block with 17 classrooms, and additional specialized teaching areas. This project faced the extra challenge of managing a major construction project on a live school site over four phases. Work was scheduled around the school’s daily routine, and an offsite approach minimized disruption to lessons by reducing the amount of deliveries and workers needed onsite.

The extension included a new reception and office area and provided drama and music spaces to better enable pupils to engage with Barking and Dagenham’s growing arts community.

Lymington Fields

Lymington Fields is the largest project the Mid Group is building for Robert Clack School. An entire new school site housing 1,350 pupils, it will bring Robert Clack School’s total pupils up to 4,000, enabling primary school pupils to learn at Robert Clack for the first time. When completed in 2020, the new school site will feature 42 classrooms, two multi-purpose games areas and a sports hall.

In addition to the ongoing work to expand the school and widen its range of facilities, Mid Group has also helped a group of 30 pupils to visit South Africa as part of their 2019 rugby tour. Mid Group donated £7,500 of the £20,000 needed to make the trip a reality. This will give the team opportunities to play against some of the best school rugby teams in South Africa, as well as coach local students and take part in conservation activities.
