Not one to be phased by the immense competition Apple is facing from Google and Microsoft in the mobile market, chief executive Tim Cook has claimed that Apple is working on ‘game changers’ that would revitalize the company’s product lineup.

Apple has faced intense competition in all of its target markets over the last three years. With Google’s Android operating system now supported by top East Asian phone manufacturers, Apple faces an uphill battle in mobile.

The company also faces a PC and notebook market that’s increasingly catching up to its innovations. Technology sector investors, many of whom are involved in Apple’s stock ownership, have expressed concern at the slowdown in product releases.

CEO Tim Cook, however, claims that Apple’s innovative engine is working as hard as ever before on new products. The CEO, who replaced the late Steve Jobs in 2011, has hinted at Apple releasing ‘game changers’ that could include an Apple television.

Technology industry journalists have also speculated that Apple could release its own wearable technology, with gadgets such as wristwatches or glasses a popular topic for speculation. However, Tim Cook expressed his concerns about Google’s recent digital glasses, claiming that they are unlikely to be a mass-market success.

Apple’s strength has been in releasing new versions of existing products. The iPod, for many years Apple’s top revenue producer, improved on the existing market for MP3 players. The iPhone, likewise, improved on the budding smartphone market.

Along with its many speculated gadgets, Apple’s game changers include a revised operating system that’s been designed to improve on the failings of iOS6. The new mobile OS will focus on combining Apple’s software, hardware, and services for the ultimate mobile experience.
